Authenticity. Originality. Strategy. Creative Team.

That’s what sets The Curated Misfits apart.

Meet Anisa

Anisa Kenyatta Parks is a strategist, builder, and storyteller who knows how to turn vision into something real—and profitable.

Her journey started behind the scenes—as an intern at Hidden Beach Recordings when Jill Scott was just stepping onto the scene. That experience placed her in rooms with some of the most creative minds in the industry, including Ethan David Johnson, who would later become both a trusted collaborator and business partner.

It was there she learned a lesson that still shapes her work today: when resources are limited, creativity has to be limitless.

That environment sharpened her instincts—not just as a marketer, but as a problem solver. It also sparked her belief in building opportunities for others, which later led to creating an internship program with Taren Guy—one that helped fuel real business growth, not just busy work.

But Anisa’s edge didn’t just come from experience—it comes from who she is.

Being from New Orleans taught her how to make something out of nothing, how to move with culture instead of chasing trends, and how to build community that actually shows up.

Being a woman taught her how to lead with both intuition and execution—how to see what others miss and still get results.

And being a masculine of center lesbian taught her how to live—and build—authentically. No code-switching. No shrinking. No performing.

Those aren’t obstacles. They’re her superpowers.

Before founding The Curated Misfits, Anisa built her reputation helping brands grow with intention and impact.

Alongside Ethan Johnson, she helped scale YouTube influencer Taren Guy from 50K to 250K subscribers in just one year—while securing over $250,000 in sponsorships for the Luv & Learn Your Hair event, including title sponsor L’Oréal.

But it wasn’t just about growing an audience—it was about building one that moves.

Her engagement didn’t just look good—it converted. It drove ticket sales, filled rooms, and generated real revenue for the brands and businesses Taren recommended.

Because the strategy was never about going viral. It was about building trust.

That same approach carried offline.

Together, they created Luv & Learn Your Hair—a live experience that sold out in cities like New York City, Washington, DC, Philadelphia, and Atlanta—bringing education, community, and culture together in a way people showed up for.

Behind the scenes, Anisa also built systems that made that growth sustainable—developing an internship program that proved strong teams are just as important as strong marketing.

Because she understands something a lot of people miss:

You don’t scale alone.

That belief became even clearer when she helped build her wife’s business, Headliners NOLA Salon, into a high-grossing company. Growth didn’t come from doing more alone—it came from building a team, hiring strategically, and creating structure that allowed the business to expand.

That’s why she pushes others to think beyond themselves.

Because having a team isn’t a luxury—it’s leverage.

Along the way, Anisa has supported and helped shape brands and organizations like emPOWER NOLA, Dr. Maurice Sholas, Daughters Beyond Incarceration, Brothers Empowered to Teach, and Velvet Butch NOLA to name a few.

Today, through The Curated Misfits, she helps brands stop performing and start connecting—by building strategies that actually sound like them, speak to the right people, and drive real results.

And fitting in was never the goal.

What Sets Us Apart

Authenticity as Strategy

We don’t treat authenticity as a buzzword–we treat it as a competitive advantage. Every strategy is built around who you truly are, not what’s trending.

We don’t use cookie-cutter formulas or recycled marketing tactics. Everything is curated to reflect your unique voice, perspective, and position in the market.

Proven Process, Flexible Execution

Our approach is grounded in real-world experience–from building and growing businesses to developing brands that connect. We understand what it takes to create marketing that actually works.

A Full Team. Multiple Skill Sets.

You’re not hiring one marketing coordinator–you’re gaining a full team.

For the cost of one employee (plus benefits), you could be investing in actual growth–like Google Ads or LinkedIn campaigns that bring in revenue.
